The OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs announced today that they have acquired forward Kaden McGregor in a trade with the Peterborough Petes. In exchange for McGregor, the Petes have received forward Cooper Dennis.
McGregor, 17, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection. He has now been traded after his rookie season in the league.
Bulldogs GM Spencer Hyman said in the team’s official announcement that he believes McGregor “will be a foundational piece of our program for years to come.”
A 5’11” center, McGregor is a prospect for the 2027 NHL Entry Draft. He was listed as an “honorable mention” in the early draft rankings published by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic in March, and Lauren Kelly of Elite Prospects called McGregor “a B-grade prospect at this stage.” The hope will be that the move to Brantford can unlock some of the upside that got him selected No. 1 overall last year.
The Bulldogs sacrificed a quality scoring talent to get McGregor, as Dennis is coming off of a stellar 34-goal, 74-point rookie season in the OHL. The 5’6″ winger registered seven points in 15 playoff games and will be expected to be one of Peterborough’s top scorers next season, though his lack of size could keep him off of the radar of professional teams.

Former Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nils Juntorp has signed a contract to play for Mora IK of HockeyAllsvenskan, the second tier of Swedish professional hockey. The 6’1″, 197-pound winger was selected in the sixth round, No. 188 overall, of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The Blackhawks were likely intrigued by Juntorp’s potential scoring upside after he managed 17 goals and 41 points in 44 games playing for HV71’s U20 team, along with the six points in five games he registered on loan in Sweden’s third division, HockeyEttan. The year after he was drafted, he left for North America and spent the year as a productive middle-six forward with the Madison Capitols of the USHL.
But for the last three seasons, Juntorp has been stuck playing for various clubs in HockeyEttan, and Chicago did not give Juntorp an entry-level contract before their exclusive rights to sign him expired on June 1 of this year. Now with Mora, Juntorp will look to earn a spot in Sweden’s second tier and leave the third division behind him.
The ECHL’s Trois-Rivières Lions announced yesterday that they have signed former QMJHL starting goalie Samuel St-Hilaire to a one-year ECHL deal. The 22-year-old was a solid tandem goalie in the QMJHL from 2022-2025, with his best season coming in 2023-24, when he posted a .915 save percentage in 36 games.
That year, he was named to Canada’s roster for the IIHF World Junior Championships. St-Hilaire got a brief, one-game taste of the ECHL after his QMJHL season ended in the spring of 2025, but he spent last season playing in the LNAH, a low-level minor league in Quebec.
With this contract in hand, St-Hilaire will get the chance to play for his local ECHL club and potentially begin to climb the ladder of North American professional hockey.
