That's not just any September call-up, that's a Stanley Cup champion.
The Colorado Rockies hosted Devon Toews to throw out the first pitch on Sunday.
The Colorado Avalanche defenseman, who helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup in 2022, did the honors before a game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Toews took the field in a No. 22 Mickey Moniak jersey and threw a first-pitch strike to the Rockies outfielder in front of cheering fans at Coors Field. The pair posed for a picture after Toews' pitch.
Toews and the Avalanche play their season opener at home against the Los Angeles Kings on Sept. 30 (10 p.m.
ET; HBO MAX, truTV, TNT).
