Welcome to The Hockey News Morning Skate, where we give a quick recap of all the action from the NHL every weekday morning so you stay up to date.
There were a total of 79 goals scored across Thursday's 12-game slate, with three contests heading to overtime.
Let's run through the biggest storylines that emerged from last night, and make sure to check out the video version of this story above.
STECHER'S LATE-GAME HEROICS
With 28 seconds left in regulation in a 4-4 tie between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers, Troy Stecher wired a wrister over the shoulder of goaltender Dylan Garand to secure a 5-4 victory.
It was a game of unlikely heroes for the Maple Leafs, with multi-point games from Brandon Duhaime, Zac MacEwen and Teddy Blueger. GM John Chayka's re-worked depth finally seems to be finding its identity.
MCDAVID CAN'T BE STOPPED
We are running out of words to describe what Connor McDavid is doing right now. The defending Stanley Cup champions headed to Edmonton on Thursday and the Oilers captain put up his third five-point game of the year, making him the fourth player in NHL history to record 30 points in the first 10 games of a season.
More importantly for the rest of the Oilers, his efforts came in a 6-5 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Leon Draisaitl added five points of his own while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picked up a goal and an assist before later burying the shootout winner in his return to the lineup.
