It’s no secret that Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks would like Patrick Kane to call the Windy City his home once more. Fresh off a 15 million dollar per year contract extension, one Chicago first overall pick made the pitch to another former Chicago first pick to come back to the organization he won two Stanley Cups with.
Chicago has wanted to surround Bedard with the savvy scoring presence that Kane So far, the Blackhawks front office has failed in that endeavor. Bringing in Kane, who had 56 points last year even while playing through injury, would help to remedy that. At the moment, most reports have Kane’s most likely landing spots as Chicago or his hometown of Buffalo.
In Detroit, the Red Wings are set to host the US National Junior Team starting tomorrow at the Belfor Center. Three of Detroit’s most recent draftees, including the top two members of their 2026 draft class, will be in attendance.
JP Hurlbert leads the Red Wings contingent in draft pedigree as their first round pick from the latest Entry Draft. The University of Michigan commit has been spent most of his summer here already as he gears up for a spot in Ann Arbor with the Wolverines forward corps.
Victor Plante, drafted 47th overall this year by the Red Wings just as his brother Max Plante was two years ago, will be attending as well. Plante has committed to the same college as his two brothers, Zam and the aforementioned Max, University of Minnesota Duluth. Whether the three play on the same line is still yet to be seen.
Finally, Brent Solomon, who the Red Wings drafted in the fourth round in 2025 joins the team after a stellar campaign in the USHL. Solomon had 53 points (24 goals, 29 assists) in 54 regular season games with the Sioux Falls Stampede. The 6’0″ winger
