Hayden Hodgson will be watching the next two games from the press box.
The Ottawa Senators forward has been suspended for two games for boarding, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Friday.
The punishment comes after Hodgson received a game misconduct and major penalty for boarding Los Angeles Kings defenceman Brandt Clarke on Thursday night.
Hodgson took a run at Clarke, charging in at 21 m.p.h., according to the game broadcast. Clarke was just below the goal line when he was driven into the boards.
The hit caused a brief scrum, and the Kings' Erik Haula received a two-minute penalty for roughing Hodgson.
Clarke was ruled out for the rest of the game for what the Kings called an upper-body injury.
The play with 8:45 left in the second period came shortly after the Kings scored three goals in 4:03 to take a 4-1 lead and chase goalie Jonas Johansson.
Hodgson has played in only 24 NHL games over five seasons, but including Thursday, has amassed 51 minutes in penalties.
Hodgson was fined $2,018, the maximum allowed under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, in October 2025 for boarding Montreal's Alex Newhook in a pre-season game. He has a long history of suspensions — 20 games worth — in the American Hockey League for elbowing and other offences over the past five seasons.
He’ll forfeit $8,763 in salary as a result of the suspension. He'll miss games Saturday at San Jose and Sunday at Anaheim.
He's eligible to return Wednesday at Buffalo.
The Senators recalled wingers Xavier Bourgault and Philip Tomasino from Belleville of the AHL.
The Senators continue their West Coast road trip at San Jose on Saturday and at Anaheim on Sunday.
