Warren Foegele could be spending an extended time on the sidelines.

The Ottawa Senators placed the forward on the injured list with a knee injury, Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch reported Friday.

Foegele suffered the injury in Tuesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights following a knee-on-knee collision with Jeremy Lauzon in the third period.

He did not return to the game after the hit, and Lauzon was handed a two-minute minor for kneeing.

The 30-year-old has had a steady start to his first full season with the Senators after being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings at last year's trade deadline. He has one goal and three assists in 13 games while playing an average of 12:04 of ice time per night.

Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round of the 2014 Draft, the Markham, Ont., native has 118 goals and 112 assists in 594 games split between the Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers, Kings and Senators.
