Whether Detroit Red Wings forward prospect Charlie Forslund ever plays for the team remains up in the air. However, if he doesn’t fashion a career in pro hockey, he could easily find himself humming a different tune.
The hulking Swedish winger is showing to be a talent in the music industry as well. He’s proving very handy with a mixer.
For those not fluent in music, a mixer, also known as a mixing console, mixing desk, or soundboard, is an electronic device. It combines, routes, and adjusts the volume, tone, and dynamics of multiple audio signals.
A mixer takes multiple distinct sound sources. These can include microphones, electric guitars, keyboards, or media players.
Using a mixer, a DJ blends them into one or more combined outputs.

The 20-year-old Forslund is a master mixer. He has a mixing console set up in his apartment.
Through Charlie Forslund Music on YouTube, TikTok, and Amazon Music, he’s already produced 11 songs.
“I don’t know where it comes from,” Forslund told Swedish Hockey News. “It’s probably because I’ve always had an interest in it and felt like I wanted to start making my own music rather than just listening to other people’s music.”
Red Wings Draftee Fighting For Playing Time
The 6-foot-3, 212-pound Forslund won’t be mixing it up in the SHL, at least not to start the season. He’s been loaned out to Almtuna in Sweden’s second division, HockeyAllsvenskan.
He’s played in Sweden’s second tier since the Red Wings made Forslund the 176th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Forslund felt that the handwriting was on the wall for him when Brynas signed another former Red Wings draftee. The club added 13-season NHL veteran Calle Jarnkrok last week.
“Of course, it was a different situation when he came in,” Forslund said. “He’s a really good hockey player.
“I just try to come here every day and do my best, and we’ll see where it leads. I just have to keep working.”
He’s fighting equally hard to earn gigs through his music.

“I hope to get the chance to play somewhere in Gävle,” Forslund said. “That would be awesome.
“I’ve already done it at home in Falun.”
Falun was where the Red Wings discovered Forslund. During the 2023-24 season, between U18, U20, and Falun IF in HockeyEttan, the Swedish third division, Forslund scored 40 goals in 52 games.
If the day doesn’t come when Forslund and the Red Wings make beautiful music together, he’s quite prepared to do it on his own.
