If you think you’re counting the days until this weekend’s NHL Rookie Tournament and the official launch of the 2026-27 season, allow us to introduce you to Detroit Red Wings prospect Adam Levac.
Yeah, sure, summer’s a hoot. It’s a lot of fun.
But as far as Levac is concerned, the time for hockey season to arrive is long overdue.
“I’m sure excited for this year,” Levac told the Peterborough Petes website. “It’s nice that everyone says they like summer and stuff, and I love summer, but I’m starting to miss playing hockey.

“I’m really excited to get back into playing games and practicing.”
Levac will be part of the Detroit roster for the four-team rookie tournament that begins Saturday at the Belfor Training Center.
Levac Ready To Compete For Red Wings
The Peterborough Petes center that Detroit chose 108th overall in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft is known as a battler. He looks to pattern his game after a couple of NHLers who are thorns in the side of the Red Wings: Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk and Montreal’s Nick Suzuki.
“They kind of play great roles for their teams,” Levac said. “Two hundred-foot players and they play hard every shift.”
Levac plays that way, and he’s got a little bit of that Brad Marchand rat in him, too.
“I bring energy,” Levac said. “I play hard, and I work hard every time I’m on the ice.
“And I got a little playmaking ability.”
Those are the qualities that attracted the Red Wings to Levac.
“They said they liked how hard I compete, how hard I work every shift,” Levac said.
When NHL scouts assess Levac’s game, they’ll quickly point out his glaring weakness, and it’s a biggie – he’s not a strong skater.
He knows it, and he’s working on it.
“Right now I’m making sure I’m getting faster, stronger,” Levac said. “Working hard in the gym, off-ice, on the track.
“I’m trying to get a more powerful stride. Keep getting stronger and heavier.
I think if I get a little faster, I think it could help me a lot.”
