Status report

Gibson will start after missing the third period of a 5-2 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. “He’s fine,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said.

“He had something in his eye. The doctor got it out right after the game.”

McLellan said he might make some changes to his lineup after warmups. The Flames are expected to dress the same lineup they used in a 2-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

Backlund wore a noncontact jersey during Calgary's morning skate; the forward will miss his second straight game.

Huberdeau also was also on the ice in a noncontact jersey; the forward has yet to play this season after having hip refacing surgery in March.
