NHL on Prime will have more broadcasts in Canada over the next 12 years.
Prime Video and Rogers Communications announced a 12-year sublicensing agreement on Tuesday. The deal allows Prime Video to exclusively broadcast Wednesday regular-season national NHL games and carry three playoff series per year in Canada in English and French.
Those playoff series include two in the first round and one in the second round each year. Prime Video is expected to exclusively broadcast at least 26 regular-season games and get the rights to at least 12 playoff games.
Prime Video said the games will come to subscribers in Canada at no additional cost.
"We're thrilled to expand our partnership with the NHL and Rogers in this landmark agreement, which brings even more premium live sports to Prime members in Canada," said Jay Marine, head of global sports for Prime Video.
Prime Video broadcast Monday Night Hockey in Canada for the last two seasons in a previous sublicensing agreement with Rogers.
Now, both companies have reached a new agreement as Rogers' new 12-year national media rights deal with the NHL for all platforms in Canada begins this upcoming season. Both agreements run through the 2037-38 campaign.
"Our partnership with Prime Video builds on the strong foundation we have established together and reinforces NHL hockey as the most valuable sports content in Canada," Rogers president-CEO Tony Staffieri said.

The on-air talent and production details for NHL On Prime weren't announced on Tuesday.
During Monday Night Hockey in 2024-25 and 2025-26, John Forslund handled the play-by-play alongside color commentators Jody Shelley, Thomas Hickey and Shane Hnidy. Its talent also included Adnan Virk, Andi Petrillo, Blake Bolden, Chris Pronger and Christine Simpson.
