Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Nashville Predators The Pittsburgh Penguins (4-6-1) ended their four-game losing streak with their most consistent game of the season Thursday. They will try to dig out of the early-season hole that their disjointed efforts and awful turnovers have created when they host the Nashville Predators (3-3-3) at PPG Paints Arena Saturday.
The puck drops just after 7 p.m. when Maria Yezovich signs the National Anthem.
The Penguins easily handled the Florida Panthers Thursday, outskating them and outplaying them in a 4-0 home win. Nick Robertson had a pair of goals, including the first goal and the empty-netter.
Evgeni Malkin and Hendrix Lapierre each added a goal and an assist in the win. Arturs Silovs was steady and stopped all 26 shots in the win.
The Penguins lineup might look a little different Saturday. Egor Chinakhov and Sam Girard remain out day-to-day and did not practice Friday, and Evgeni Malkin also missed practice due to illness.
However, he skated Saturday morning. Coach Dan Muse said Malkin will not play and Arturs Silovs will start.
The Penguins recalled prospect Avery Hayes to fill Malkin’s spot. The Boston Bruins shut out Nashville 6-0 Thursday.
Casey Mittelstadt and Elias Lindholm scored in the first period, David Pastrnak and JJ Peterka added goals in the second, and Mark Kastelic and Pastrnak scored in the third.
