Center Jake Leschyshyn, who has over 400 games of experience at the top levels of North American pro hockey, has decided to sign in Europe. The 27-year-old has signed a one-year contract with HIFK Helsinki, a club in Liiga, the top division of hockey in Finland.
A mainstay of the NHL/AHL bubble for the last half-decade, Leschyshyn most recently was a member of the Buffalo Sabres organization, scoring 13 goals and 22 points for the Rochester Americans. For nearly three years prior to 2025-26, Leschyshyn played in the New York Rangers organization, most recently appearing in the NHL in 2023-24. Leschyshyn was originally selected in the second round of the 2017 draft, No. 62 overall, by the Vegas Golden Knights.
