We are one day away from the beginning of training camps for the 2026-27 season. Across the league, teams have already started sending players back to their clubs from rookie camp and signing players to amateur tryout agreements, while players worldwide are finalizing where they’ll play next season.

The Buffalo Sabres have sent a quartet of players back to their junior clubs for the 2026-27 campaign. According to a team announcement, the Sabres have sent defenseman David Bedkowski (71st overall, 2025) back to the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s, forward Dylan Dumont (188th overall, 2026) to the QMJHL’s Drummondville Voltigeurs, goaltender Samuel Meloche (116th overall, 2025) to the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs, and forward Domán Kristóf Szongoth (156th overall, 2026) to the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds.
The AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds announced that they’ve signed defenseman Aidan Fulp for the 2026-27 season. Fulp, 26, is a Western Michigan University alumnus and began his professional career with the AHL’s Bridgeport Islanders late in the 2022-23 season.
He split last season between the AHL’s Rochester Americans and the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, scoring three assists in 21 games with a +2 rating for the former.
A former defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens is on the move overseas. After spending the last three years in Switzerland’s National League, defenseman Sami Niku has signed with the SHL’s Linköping HC for the upcoming season.
Niku’s best professional season came a few years after the Jets selected him in the 2015 NHL Draft, scoring 16 goals and 54 points in 76 games with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose during the 2017-18 season.
Remaining overseas, former St. Louis Blues and Florida Panthers defenseman Petteri Lindbohm has found a new home in Finland. According to a team announcement, Lindbohm has signed with the Finnish Liiga’s TPS after playing for HIFK since the 2023-24 season.
Lindbohm scored three goals and eight points in 27 games last season with a +10 rating.
Back to the AHL, the Colorado Eagles have signed netminder Isaiah Saville. A product of the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Saville spent several years in the Vegas Golden Knights organization.
Last season, he spent much of his time with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits, managing an 11-13-3 record with a .910 SV% and 2.67 GAA in 29 games. The Eagles didn’t specify whether Saville’s contract is two-way, but he’ll likely spend more time in the ECHL in the upcoming season.
A former third-round pick of the Nashville Predators is headed for southwest Michigan. The ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings announced they’ve signed Adam Ingram for the 2026-27 season.
Ingram, 22, never signed with the Predators after they selected him with the 82nd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Draft. Instead, he spent his collegiate days at St. Cloud State University, finishing his senior season with three goals and 13 points in 25 games with a -3 rating.
Like the Sabres, the Edmonton Oilers have also cut some players from their rookie camp. According to a team announcement, the Oilers have released Weston Cameron, Olli Wahlroos, and Kyle Heger from their amateur tryout agreements.
Additionally, Edmonton has returned netminder Ryan Cameron (212th overall, 2026) to the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede.
