Wednesday’s news that the former Minnesota Wild amateur scout is coming aboard follows the arrival last month of Judd Brackett from the Wild to be one of general manager John Chayka’s assistants, in charge of player evaluation.
Palango had been with the Wild since 2020-21 after a decade as amateur scout with the Vancouver Canucks. He replaces Mark Leach, who worked his last draft in June before Brackett was brought in, part of sweeping changes under Chayka. Perpich to head a newly titled department of U.S. amateur scouting. Chayka, a data-driven exec, had Rossen as an analytics expert when Chayka ran the Arizona Coyotes and for a brief time working at Chayka’s Stathletes company.
Rossen had since been in the player agent field with Creative Artists Agency. Perpich also has a history with the Wild as a scout. Skating consultant Paul Matheson also announced on social media this week he is leaving the Leafs.
