Bo Horvat is once again being trusted to wear the C for an NHL franchise.

The New York Islanders announced Monday that Horvat will be the team's 16th captain in franchise history.

Horvat is coming off back-to-back seasons with 57 points but he had a considerable boost in scoring production with 31 goals in 68 games.

The 31-year-old has been with the Islanders since being acquired back in January 2023 and signed an eight-year deal a month later.

Horvat has prior experience as a captain during his time with the Vancouver Canucks before he was traded to the Islanders.

New York needed a new captain after Anders Lee departed in the off-season, signing a three-year deal with the Utah Mammoth.

In his 3.5 seasons with the Islanders Horvat has 99 goals and 198 points through 260 games. The former ninth overall pick has 300 goals and 618 points in 881 career games.
