Taylor Hall has fallen back out of the Carolina Hurricanes lineup with a day-to-day injury. The 34 year old sustained a new injury in Tuesday’s practice, unrelated to his upper-body injury sustained on October 13th, per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan.

Hall has not played since his initial injury, though he was activated off of injured reserve on Monday. He went on to miss Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins, marking six consecutive absences for Hall.

The Hurricanes offense is inevitably shorthanded without Hall in the lineup. His absence keeps Carolina from rolling out the trio of Hall, Logan Stankoven, and Jackson Blake – a unit that has outscored opponents 38-to-26 dating back to last season.

They won the scoring battle three-to-one through the first eight games of this season.

Individually, Hall has racked up five points in eight appearances. Half of that scoring came from back-to-back two-point performances on October 6th and 8th.

The Hurricanes combined for 13 goals between those two games.

Carolina has continued to find success despite Hall’s absence. They lead the NHL with a 10-2-2 record and rank third in scoring with 3.79 goals-per-game.

Stankoven and Blake have been joined by Nikolaj Ehlers, forming a line that has four goals-for and no goals-against. Hall’s absence has also opened an opportunity for Nicolas Deslauriers, who should stick on the fourth-line until the former Hart Trophy winner is back to full health.

Skyler Brind’Amour also made appearances during Hall’s initial stint on IR. He was assigned in a corresponding move to Hall’s activation and could return to the lineup as an extra option.
