Kyle Ross-Imagn ImagesIMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect The Pittsburgh Penguins have done a fair amount of roster shuffling over the last 18 hours. Thursday morning, Penguins coach Dan Muse confirmed that Ben Kindel, Evgeni Malkin, and Egor Chinakhov would return to the lineup Thursday night when the team hosts the Utah Mammoth.
However, the one maybe is defenseman Sam Girard, who has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury. Girard was a full-go at practice over the last few days, but Muse labeled him a game-time decision.
Kindel and Girard will need to be activated from injured reserve to play, but that is merely a formality. According to PuckPedia.com, both are still shown on IR.
This season, Girard has seven points (1-6-7) in nine games. Kindel has four points (2-2-4) in nine games.
As part of the shuffling, forward Elmer Soderblom was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with an upper-body injury. The team also returned Avery Hayes and defenseman Chase Pietila to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, while keeping Rutger McGroarty on the NHL roster.
Justin Brazeau was optioned to WBS on a conditioning assignment.
