The most interesting man in hockey went down on Wednesday.
Calgary Flames goaltender Devin Cooley was replaced by Dustin Wolf after the first period following a hard bump from Edmonton Oilers forward Colton Dach.
Dach crashed into Cooley with 12 seconds remaining in the opening 20 minutes and received a two-minute penalty for goaltender interference.
Cooley remained in for the final 12 seconds but was not on the bench to start the second. He was then ruled out for the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Head coach Ryan Huska had no update on Cooley's condition after the game, saying that the decision was made between the goaltender and his trainer not to come out for the second period.
The injury interrupted Cooley's run of hot play. The 29-year-old had allowed just six goals on 133 shots over his previous four games entering play Wednesday, good for a .955 save percentage.
Cooley had allowed one goal on nine shots through 20 minutes against the Oilers.
However, it isn't just Cooley's strong performance that's turned heads lately. The netminder has drawn attention for his viral post-game interviews, including saying that he"felt nothing" while playing well and sharing that off the ice"he's reading with his rabbit and not thinking about much."
Flames forward Brennan Othmann was also ruled out for the remainder of the game with an upper-body injury after fighting Oilers defenceman Ty Emberson in the first period.
