The Dylan Larkin saga has come to a head.

The Detroit Red Wings' former captain will not play until a trade occurs, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Thursday.

The development follows head coach Todd McLellan's announcement that Larkin will not play against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. McLellan said Detroit's interim general manager Shawn Horcoff would address the situation.

Larkin, 30, requested a trade during the summer. He did report to the team, but was stripped of his captaincy.

The three-time all-star, who has a no-trade clause, has reportedly expanded his trade list to 10 teams.

Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press has reported that Larkin's list now includes the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche.

While former general manager Steve Yzerman fielded calls for Larkin, those talks stalled while the Red Wings searched for a new head of hockey operations once he was removed from his post on July 15. That search is ongoing but Horcoff was elevated to interim general manager in September and seemingly has the authority to complete a Larkin trade.

One team notably not on Larkin's trade list is the Montreal Canadiens, even after Canadiens fans chanted"we want Larkin!" during a recent visit by the Red Wings.

However, Red Wings assistant GM Kris Draper has watched the Canadiens live several times this season.
