This probably wasn't how the Winnipeg Jets wanted their newest goalie to make his debut.
Nico Daws replaced Stuart Skinner to start the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning, with the Jets trailing 5-1 Thursday night.
Daws made nine saves in the third period as the Jets stormed back and nearly completed the comeback, ultimately losing 6-4.
Daws was acquired from the New Jersey Devils last week as part of the package for Connor Hellebuyck.
The 25-year-old has appeared in 59 games, all with the Devils, since making his NHL debut during the 2021-22 season. He had a .872 save percentage and 2.78 goals-against average in four starts before the trade.
The Jets have now lost seven games in a row. Skinner made 16 saves on 21 shots before being pulled.
