However, the folks in Calgary are starting to notice that hometown boy Cale Makar has not yet signed an extension in Colorado, and the pundits are speculating at what a whopper of a contract he could command. And we rolled through the extraordinary number of now-former Pittsburgh Penguins and how they’ve performed. I’ll do my best. But this weekend I got to roll through my childhood as one of those oddball free channels on Google TV had a weekend marathon of The Incredible Hulk. No, they didn’t play the Marvel movies or even the Ang Lee joint that essentially killed Eric Bana’s career, but the original TV show from the late 70s and early 1980s with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.
It was the first comic book made for movies or TV aside from Superman that was done with seriousness and heart. But it definitely wasn’t made for higher definition TV; it does ruin the illusion just a little when you can see Ferrigno (the Hulk) running in green slippers. And for my Gen X peeps, the opening and the theme song still land.
I enjoy the wandering loner angle of the TV far more than the movie plots of running from the army. I was only five when the show went off the air, but I remembered so many episodes. It was nice to see the source of so many nightmares.
