The Pittsburgh Penguins’ most talked-about trade target is now off the market, for now, as Jason Robertson signed a team-friendly deal with the Dallas Stars to avoid arbitration.
TSN looked at the players still on the trade block to decide who will move and who won’t before the season starts. There are a couple of remaining cases that might go to arbitration, including CBJ goalie Jet Greaves, who wants starter money. And former Penguins defenseman John Marino got a Rocky Mountain-sized payday from the Utah Mammoth.
Between you and me, I thought PHN had maintained a consistent line on the Robertson trade possibility. Credit to Josh Yohe for uncovering it first, and then Elliotte Friedman for his reports on Draft weekend, but for the many reasons we’ve discussed, it never seemed like the best move–especially as the trade market prices exploded. But it also gets to me just a little when someone goes into the comments jumping ugly that we used clickbait or something akin.

NHL.com: The collapse of regional sports networks is largely complete, save for a few sports-mad markets like Pittsburgh. To compensate for the regional networks going belly up, the NHL is stepping in to produce the broadcasts for several teams, including a pair of Metro Division clubs. It’s a shame the NHL had to do it because they will act as a band-aid, not a growth mechanism.
