The Boston Bruins open the doors to Warrior Ice Arena at the end of this week.

Rookie camp begins Friday, and the Bruins will be in Buffalo for a pair of games on Sunday and Monday. Training camp starts in nine days, and we know that the Bruins will be without Charlie McAvoy for the first six games, but when he comes back, the Bruins are planning on reducing his workload on the penalty kill.

MCAVOY: Charlie McAvoy has been the Bruins’ top defenseman for years, and he’s involved in every area of the game. Last season, he saw an uptick in his penalty-kill usage, but Marco Sturm told The Boston Globe that he wants to tone that down this year.

McAvoy averaged 2:48 of shorthanded ice time per game last season, which led the team.
