The Boston Bruins prospects are done with rookie camp at Warrior Ice Arena and are heading west to Buffalo for two games against the Sabres prospects. The Bruins gathered 16 prospects, including some Providence Bruins, and seven invites for two days of camp in Brighton.
This marks the 11th straight season the Bruins will travel to Buffalo, though this year’s showcase looks a little different. The Bruins will play Buffalo twice; no other teams are in town besides the black and gold.
The streak will also end at 11, as the Sabres will come to Boston for two games ahead of 2027 training camp. James Hagens headlines the group as the only player with NHL experience, and he’s looking forward to getting back on the ice.
“I’m excited to be able to play a game again,” James Hagens said after the first session. “You know, you work so hard in the offseason.
To be able to be back on the ice, it feels great.” Dans Locmelis, who is fully recovered from shoulder surgery in March, has been itching to get back to game action. He has plenty of experience on the international level, but he has spent the last six months practicing and recovering rather than playing.
“I just want to play hockey,” Locmelis said. “Like I said, I’ve been practicing for six months.
I just want to play hockey and have some fun with the guys.” Providence head coach Trent Whitfield will be behind the Bruins’ bench for the two games in Buffalo.
