The Bruins opened the scoring at the 5:28 mark, scoring first for the fifth straight game. Blues goaltender Joel Hofer played the puck up the boards, and Casey Mittelstadt picked it up and fired toward the net.

James Hagens redirected the puck between his legs and past Hofer for his fifth goal of the season.

Charlie McAvoy took the first penalty of the night, and the Blues did not need long to get on the board. Robert Thomas won the faceoff back to Philip Broberg, who immediately played it to Jimmy Snuggerud.

Just three seconds into the man advantage, Snuggerud beat Swayman from the left circle to tie the game.

The Blues jumped to a 2-1 lead five minutes into the second period. From behind the net, Connor McMichael played the puck to a wide-open Philip Broberg.

He uncorked a wrist shot and beat Swayman from the slot.

Robert Thomas added to the Blues’ lead seven minutes later. He walked into the offensive zone with Jake Neighbours and Jimmy Snuggerud on his wings, but Thomas kept the puck and beat Swayman from 30 feet out.

Marco Sturm shuffled the top-six forwards to start the third period. David Pastrnak started the period with Fraser Minten and Marat Khusnutdinov before taking a two-minute interference minor.

JJ Peterka, Pavel Zacha, and Morgan Geekie played with each other when the Bruins got back to 5-on-5.

Geekie took a tripping minor with 7:24 to go in regulation, sending the Blues’ power play back to the ice. They only needed six seconds, and similar to the first one, the goal started with a faceoff win from Thomas to Broberg.

Jake Neighbours blocked Broberg’s shot but beat Swayman with a backhand to make it 4-1.

The Bruins will fly home to Boston after the game and practice on Friday morning in Brighton. They open a two-game homestand with a Halloween matinee against the Chicago Blackhawks (4-9-0).
