The Detroit Red Wings have suspended former captain Dylan Larkin.
“Dylan Larkin has informed us that he will no longer play for the Detroit Red Wings,” Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff said in a statement. “We are disappointed by his decision, particularly given his obligations to the organization and his teammates.

Larkin wasn’t at practice on Wednesday when the Red Wings resumed workouts following an off-day on Tuesday. Detroit coach Todd McLellan originally portrayed Larkin’s absence as nothing more than a maintenance day.
However, it’s since been learned that on his day off, Larkin met with his agent Pat Brisson in Detroit.
Brisson issued a statement on his client’s behalf.
“Dylan’s had enough of the situation,” read Brisson’s statement, according to reporting by TSN’s Pierre Lebrun. “We believe he’s been very professional and cooperative through this process.”
Brisson called Horcoff on Thursday morning to inform him that Larkin was no longer interested in donning the winged wheel jersey of the Red Wings.
“To put it simply, we received a call from Dylan’s agent just saying that Dylan wasn’t going to be coming to the rink and no longer wants to be a part of the Red Wings,” Horcoff said.
Larkin made a formal trade request to the Red Wings following last season. Detroit’s interim GM seemed a little miffed at the suggestion that the Red Wings weren’t trying to move Larkin.
“We’ve worked extensively, exhaustively with CAA (Brisson’s agency) to find a solution for Dylan,” Horcoff said. “We’ve talked to the teams on Dylan’s list.
