The Columbus Blue Jackets are bringing in some veteran reinforcements between the pipes.

The Blue Jackets signed goaltender Cam Talbot to a one-year deal worth $950,000, the team announced Monday.

Talbot will serve as backup to young Jet Greaves, who earned the starting position last season.

“Adding depth in net has been a priority for us so we are very excited to add Cam Talbot to our club,” said general manager Don Waddell in a statement. “He is a big, smart, fundamentally sound goaltender who has won a lot of games in our league.

He is also a quality person, and we think he’ll be a great addition to our group.”

The 39-year-old suited up for the Detroit Red Wings last season, posting a save percentage of .883 and a 3.19 goals-against average in 34 games.

Over 597 career NHL games in New York, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Calgary, Minnesota, Ottawa and Los Angeles, Talbot owns a .911 save percentage and a 2.69 goals-against average with 33 shutouts.
